The National Regulatory Sandbox (NRS) provides a forward-looking approach to regulation, allowing minimal barriers by creating a controlled regulatory testing environment. This initiative will also help the Government better understand the importance of the impact of technology for economic growth and human capital development based on the principle of ‘data-driven policy intervention’. This initiative provides the testing ground for innovative technologies, products, services or approaches that have not been fully compliant with the existing legal and regulatory framework. It will also create opportunities and risks of new innovations and developing a new regulatory environment to facilitate. Discussions are held at various levels and with many stakeholders to ensure that companies are able to grow and serve the key client industries and markets.
So, be part of our ecosystem with partners/programmes in the Co-Design Lab, Industry, Government Consultation, Pilot and Testing, Regulation Review and the Innovation Deployment. Let’s collaborate and act now!
According to a report by Pricewaterhousecoopers (PWC), the global commercial market for drone technology is valued at $127bn in the upcoming years and Malaysia's adoption of this technology is gaining significant momentum. Futurise plays an important role to address the industry concerns, which is the lack of regulations, through its National Regulatory Sandbox Programme.
We have worked with the Ministry of Transport, Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) to come up with the Drone guidelines along with the Drone Testing Zone In Cyberjaya in order for drone players to operate and test their innovation in a safe environment. More than 80 companies are estimated to be impacted when the Review of the Malaysian Civil Aviation Regulation (MCAR)/Flight Operations Directive (FOD) is released.
Malaysia's first Drone Testing Zone was set up during the MydroneX event in 2019. Located in Cyberjaya, drone players are given the opportunity to test their drone innovations in a safe and controlled environment. Activities in DTZ include Drone Demonstration, Drone Trainings (with Drone Academy Asia), and Drone Delivery. One of the most notable drone testing undertaken here was a drone food delivery by a local company during the MyDroneX event.
Futurise is collaborating with Drone Academy Asia (DAA) supported by Poladrone, a globally recognized 100% DJI certified. DAA is a certified and recognized training provider under the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) and their Courses are claimable under the Human Resource Development Fund. They provide Best-in -Class Drone Training which includes Professional Drone Operator Course, Aerial Mapping & Surveying Course, and Precise Aerial Map Advanced Course.
The lack of regulations for the Mobile Childcare services (MCS) which is an on-demand child babysitting service provided at the parent/legal guardian’s premises has prompted Futurise to intervene and develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The SOP was submitted to Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) in September 2020 which sets out minimum standards to be complied by mobile child care services stakeholders as well as addressing public safety gaps.
Futurise has managed to develop its first testbed for Autonomous Vehicle testing in Cyberjaya, a testbed that aims to support industry players in testing and collecting relevant data for the Autonomous Vehicle industry as a whole. The Ministry of Transport endorsed the testing routes in December 2020, along with the development of AV Testing Guidelines without stakeholders. With the Testbeds now in place, eMoovit became the 1st company to undertake AV pilot testing in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. For the rest of AV players, they can now submit an application and test out their vehicles in a safer and more controlled environment.
